Any ideas what it is?

Sue saw this on our door and we can not find it in any of our books?
Any thoughts as it is bugging us

this looks like the bug and might explain why its not in your books ! ive seen loads of these in the trees when fruit picking this year.
google - Arocatus roeselii it looks much like that. but im not 100% on it and its been bugging me too that i cant identify it!

Look at the body shape ... it's definitely a shield bug of some kind. There are hundreds of the buggers, though. There's loads of identification sites - just google "shield bug" - but it might take a while to get a definite ID. One of the problems is that they look very different depending upon their age (and they can live for a few years) - so best of luck!!

My first thought was shield bug too. ALso sometimes known as stink bugs - I hope you do't find out wy! lol!
