Hi guys

We've been back to the house/land we're buying to check it out a bit more...

Is there a particular amount of land you need to have before being classed as a "small-holding", or is it more to do with what you use the land for?

Thanks

Shelley

Hi. i would say it would be what you used the land for, or what you kept on the land you do have. being a fan of Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall,s i watched all the river cottage programs, and when he first started he didnt have a huge amount of land but he still considered himself a small holder because of what he had on his land.
Hope this helps.

Sorry forgot to add. that to consider your self a smallholder you would have to have space to raise your own livestock, and have living quarters for them. Bit like a farm but on a smaller scale. Im no smallholder but i think this is correct. Please if any one can shed more light on this subject correct me if im wrong.
