Can I grow cauliflowers in containers? or would they be better plantedout?

I´m going to start them in pots anyway, for 3 reasons

- havent yet worked out where evrything is going to go...
- still not had the annuakl snow fall, so in pots I can move them in if need be
- can protect them form the pets and pests in the early stages more easily.

i have no idea what variety they are.just 3" seedlings, reddish stalk, and slight reddish look to leaves.different to the last ones I got.

It's possible to grow absolutely anything in a container. Whether it will grow well is the question.

Traditionally, caulis need a lot of room and do best in well-firmed soil. If you can reproduce that in a container, the cauli won't notice any difference between that and open ground. So, I should imagine, you could grow them successfully. But tying up a whole, fairly large container for a single cauli may be a bit on the wasteful side.
