I have a really nasty taste in my mouth at the moment. It's a bit like nail polish or the after taste of perfume. Any suggestions as to what it could be? It's permiating everything I eat or drink.

I did ask my OH if my breath smelt strange but he said it as ok. If it was diabetes would the taste come on suddenly? What would the other symptoms be?

Have you been following a high protein diet? You may have reached the nirvana of Atkins - ketosis.
Have a jam butty and see if it goes

Unless you really have cause to think you may have diabetes I think it's the diet .

GA - my diet has been about the same - with a bit less cr@p!
Thank you for all the advice guys. I'll see how it tastes tomorrow and if it's still yukky I'll make an appointment

I get a metallic taste in my mouth when my sinuses are playing up. Are you getting over a cold or anything?
(I also get it when I'm hungover. You'd know if it was that though ;-) ).

Some medications can cause weird tastes in the mouth. If you've started a new medication in the last week, whether prescription or over the counter, that's probably it. If it's an old medication but you've gotten a refill on it recently, the company that produces it might have changed factories, and that could do it too.
Certain nutrient deficiencies, such as zinc, can effect taste and smell. There are also nutrient deficiencies that can mimic diabetes (which I found out after a bad reaction to chelation depleted every trace mineral in my body, resulting in a month and a half of pseudo-diabetes)
It might also be that something around you got sprayed, or that someone upwind of you is redoing their roof, or is fixing a pothole in the road, or some other stinky job.

I'd forgotten about this! It's gone! I happened to take my dad to the dentist and while I was there I asked him about it - he suggested salt gargle. Don't know if that's what did it - but I've been fine for several days now!

I'm wondering if perhaps my dishwasher hadn't rinsed the dishes properly!
