Field coverred with buttercups ..

Hi everyone,
My fields are actually coverred with very tall buttercups ...
The goat and sheep eats it a bit .. but it looks like it's preventing anything else from growing ...
Is there anything I should do about it ? are they actually causing a problem due to the overcrowding ?
Do you think I can make hay from it ? as it's leafy and the animals would love it in the winter I believe ...
Thanks for your advices ..
Camile
