A ring necked parakeet flew over my head. It made that much noise you could hear it for 5 minutes before you could see it! This wouldn't be quite so unusual if I was in London but I'm in Liverpool! I'm the fourth person to have seen it. I will be leqving food out from now on in case it's hungry, it might be an escaped pet.

Then on the way home I was walking down a bigish main road and a pair of mallard ducks walked past me on the pavement, side by side heading in the opposite direction.

Anyone else had anything a bit unusual happen to them lately?

It's a while ago, but I came home drunk late one night and there was a big frog sat on the doorstep staring at me, as if to say 'and where have you been?'. Thing was this was in the middle of urban London, no ponds for miles.

I remember an interesting incident when I was a child. We discovered a ferret in our downstairs cupboard. Nobody knew how it got there and when my dad tried to catch it, it ran up his trouser leg.

I love both those stories!

I don't see anything abnormal. Nor does the blackbird with which I have a conversation every morning - it trills and I click my tongue. I'm not sure why, but every time I walk outside for the first fag of the day it appears on the same bit of fence as always - only two feet away from me - and we have the same performance. It sits on the fence for a minute or so and then hops down to my feet and pretends to look for worms (difficult on a paved area). I walk towards the steps to the garden and it follows me. I walk back towards the house and it follows me. If I extend my hand it looks hopeful (if a blackbird can possibly look hopeful). I'm tempted to grab a handful of seeds and offer them - I'm sure it would hop onto my hand. The only thing that worries me is that its male.

Worse things have happened, I suppose.
