Hi all,

I got given a packet of seeds from my grandad when he came down from scotland, he called them Godzillas but had written Boadiceas on the packet. all he told me was that they were really nice flowers.
Does any one know how big they grow, wether they like shade, what do they look like? :dontknow:
I planted a few in a tray hand they have sprouted well but what to do with them now!?

No idea!

I did a quick Google and the only flower image that came up was a big pink lily. They're very beautiful but, I'm told, lethal to cats - I don't have them in the house any more.

But I think they grow from bulbs rather than seeds so I may be way off the mark. :dontknow:

I know, i googled everything to do with them, and kept getting stories of warrior queens, art work and compay names but no actual plants. on images it showed gerbras and iris, surely they are not that rare??? cant find them in any gardening books either!

Sorry never heard of them, nothing under those names in The Royal Hortiucltural Society books that we have.

Maybe they are nicknames that your grandad has called them :dontknow:

Well, there is a reference to godzilla plants on the net - but I think maybe not the one you want. These particular plants, when grown indoors, are usually under sun lamps: they have quite distinctive leaves and are not famous for their flowers at all. They can be grown outside - but then they're usually spotted by someone and the next thing you know, you have the police knocking on your door.

Unless your grandad is an ex-hippy with a lively sense of humour, these are probably not your boadiceas

Can you take a photo? I think we all call things something different sometimes, like my Streptococcus flowering houseplants. (yes I know what they really are called - Streptocarpus!)

Bit of a lateral leap, but could they possibly be woad? (Boudicca used them for skin dye).
