........ not the one on the end of my nose, but the little bugger that has just moved into our back garden. So far, not too much of a problem, as it is only tunneling down one side. But sod's law it will soon be moving across to the veg patches. Any ideas for catching/discouraging etc? (apart from blowing it's bloody head off!!)...... please

I thought my courgettes were just suffering with the dry weather but when watering a few weeks back a gaping hole opened up... mole track
I get little windmills every year and keep having to move them around but they don't last long and tend to get wrecked in teh wind in the end so I'm wondering if it's not more cost effective to get a solar anti mole gadget.

Get one of those electronic gadgets, we were plagued by the little blighters when we first moved here. They really do work, on a couple of occasions the battery run out and they came back but once new battery in off they go
At our last house I managed to catch quite a few of them. I used to get up really early, best time was just as it was getting light and patiently wait at the window watching the areas where they were rife, as soon as I saw the soil starting to form into the tell tale mounds I would grab a bucket and spade, as quick as a flash shove the spade under the mound of soil and chuck it into the bucket - hey presto one lovely little mole.
I would then take it for a nice little walk and release it somewhere else. Well I wasn't going to kill it was I

After several months of chasing 'moles' around the garden (trying to flood it out, solar deterent, etc) my BIL decided to pay someone to catch the blighters £10 per head.... £10 later IT was gone.... sometimes you are better just getting in a pro.

A crow had one of our moles, pecked it right out of the soil and flew off with it!
They are less of a problem than the voles and burrowing mice though.

Thanks all. I've borrowed a solar powered sonic thingy from a neighbour, so i'll give it a few days. If that does'nt work, then i'm going to train one of our local crows.......... to use a 12-bore!!
