Possibly I am irritated as I am indeed the sort of person he is criticising, as I go tripping about wearing Boden and putting things in my Eco Hemp Shopper, however even I in Cambridge which has a lot of middle-class left-wing anti-supermarket people would have difficulty spending £17 on a chicken. It just annoys me when people imply the only alternative to supermarkets is buying hugely expensive food because that is just nonsense, if you buy from non-supermarket shops (in my experience) the food is normally a comparable price or often cheaper for miles better quality.
Also in the magazine there is a huge T***o advert a few pages after this article which makes me cynical :-(. Grrr. Off to make soup from the veg box in an effete and pointless way
