I have no idea, but wanted to say I opened my bag of compost yesterday to find several tiny mushrooms sprouting
Would they have been edible you think?

This has become an increasing problem this year - I've never really noticed it before, but this year I've found mushrooms in almost every bag of compost I've bought in. Perhaps it's just the conditions?
On the subject of things in the compost bins, I found some spuds growing in there yesterday. No idea how they got there - I can't remember putting any in the compost heap!!!! Damn volunteers!

I don't know, they look a bit small to me and it's not their usual habitat... be careful with your ID!

yep, I was not sure enough so I left them there and they died back down the next day anyway.

Probbly just as well. I've had something similar come up in the compost mulch around my corn - I think I remember them from Roger Philips but I can't find the book to check them out. Far better not!
