Introducing the girls to new coop

When I first got the girls I was advised to "home" them by putting them in their coop for 24 hours before letting them out. Should I do that with the new coop?

I will also be introducing a 3 month old hen to the flock she has been in a run next to the others run for the last 6 weeks and seem to get on.

Good idea?

If they put themselves to bed then I would close or remove the old coop and leave the other one open all day so they can inspect it. Keep an eye at dusk and be prepared to scoop up any who havent gone in. I certainly wouldnt shut them in for 24 hours.
If your girl seems to be getting on then just pop her in at feeding time and spread the feed so they are all busy but spread out. There will probably be some chasing about but, again, keep an eye on them for a while. If anyone does actually attack her then let it go for a very short while - they do need to sort their 'pecking order' and usually these things are over very quickly/
good luck

There's still some squabbling 2 months after we introduced a new bird to our other 4 (now 3). We've come to the conclusion that either it's because a) the new bird is a different colour to the others or b) it's got the chicken version of Tourettes. The person we got it from said it wasn't getting on with her birds.
