Hello!
Not too sure how to use this site yet as only just joined and only got my 1st computer 6 months ago as I am a bit of a luddite so please, allow my errors for now.
Essentially, I was becoming more and more frustrated with the arch-capitalism and politics in Britain and in the early '90's I began to think how grand it would be to "opt out" and become self-sufficient. After many years of looking for a cheap acre in western Europe I finally found this place in Bulgaria in March '07! and moved here in the August. I have 1/4 of an acre under Lucerne and 1/4 acre under maize and a 1/4 acre vegtable patch. I have dogs, cats, goats, chickens, geese and rabbits and make my own wine and spirits (rakiya) from my grapes and plums. I planned to be self-sufficient within 5 years and I think I will manage it on time. I am 47 years old, now single, alas; In order, from school, I am an ex-train-driver, ex-builder, ex-HGV driver and ex-environmental scientist (tho'once a scientist always a scientist!).

Hi there and welcome. 
You sound almost exactly the same as myself, except for the computer bit ... I've had a computer of some form or another since the first one I got in 1980, home made with the ZX80 processor chip (that's how I remember the year).
I think you will feel at home on this forum amongst like minded people.
