http://www.durgan.org/URL/?RQCAS 16 November 2010 Luffa Sponges
These were grown by accident. I thought they were sponge luffa, (very similar but shorter) but they are pretty anyway. I eventually made sponges out of them and they were excellent. The longest is about 45 inches long, far from any record, according the literature. I never tried using them for food.
Other names: Luffah, Chinese okra, Dishcloth Gourd, Sponge Gourd, Vegetable Gourd, Cee Gwa, Running Okra, California Okra, Chinese Okra, Strainer Vine, Tsee Gwa, Si Gua, Ssu-Kuo, Shui Gwa, Man Gua, Hechima, Muop Huong, Loofah, Loofa, Belustra, Loang, Oyong, Petola manis, Silk Melon, Sing-kwa.
