fresh cut logs for plug spawn

Hello Folks,
I have some plug spawn and a friend cut some fresh oak logs for me to plug, but I've read fresh cut wood has some anti-fungal chemistry that requires about 6 weeks to dissipate. Now these logs were cut about 7 weeks ago, but have been outside since they were cut, freezing and thawing repeatedly (we've had a mild winter here this year). Does anyone have any idea if the anti-fungal chemistry would still be active in the logs? Do they have to be thawed for 6 weeks to degrade the anti-fungals?
