Small-ish Egg Question

I've kept chickens for 8 years now, and I have never had this happen before. My Hens are on their second season of laying, after the usual molt, and the eggs seem to be getting smaller. As in quite a bit smaller. I haven't changed the size of the flock, the feed, or the accomodations. Does anyone have any ideas?

The eggs are still fine, yolks nice and orangy, stand-up-ish in the skillet, shells are hard, just smaller.

Beats me: I've always found that they get larger in older birds.

Yes, I have too, which is why I am so confused!
