My good friend has just moved to Utah, SLC to work as a nutritionist She is keen to start gardening to grow veggies and fruit, but has never had a garden before. I confess I want to influence her practice toward organic or permaculture, or at least give her some stuff to think about.

Can anyone recommend a suitable book I can Amazon to her as a gift ? Not sure about the climatic considerations and how well this is covered; zones ?

All my books are UK based, so not as appropriate.

Thanks

Was in my local bookshop today and browsed a copy of 'A Vegetable Gardeners Guide to Permaculture' by Christopher Shein and Julie Thompson. Looked pretty comprehensive and as they are both Americans, should fit the bill perfectly.

Not organic, but I would recomend the Vegetable Expert as a first veg gardening book

http://www.amazon.co.uk/The-Vegetable-H ... 475&sr=8-3

It's idiot proof

Trust me

Not permaculture, but I rate Charles Dowding's "Organic Gardening - The Natural No-Dig Way" pretty highly, but it is more aimed at the UK climate.
