How long do you have to wait for it to become useable as a fertiliser?

Our friends have 3 horses, so there is a HUGE pile of poo available for the taking.... 8)

Also, how will we know that it is ready to be dug in etc?

Thanks

Hi

I know it has to be well rotted... but it's like gold... so take take take

http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/A2339624 has LOADS of really useful info.

You could also do a hotbed... see this thread for further info... http://selfsufficientish.com/forum/view ... b390e9c9bf

Have fun

We have loads of it rotting away as I speak! I'd give it 6 months to a year.

Beware of sawdust if this is what they bed stabled horses on. Too much of it and nothing will rot. I know from experience!!

Sending hubby poo picking from fields next week whilst I go riding!!
