Not only is it still warm, the weeds are thriving and some of the summer bedding plants are still giving colour. Things that I've sown on the allotment to flower next spring (phacelia and borage) are flowering now. I also have a red clover in flower. It's prolonged the lettuce season amongst other things.

We've lit the boiler for the first time in three days, and that's only because we've been gardening and need a bath (we did have a small electric fire on for about an hour before we went to bed last night). The honeysuckle is still in full bloom and we've got a very healthy looking butternut squash plant (vine?) in the polytunnel which is still putting on flowers. I know it won't do anything but I just can't bring myself to pull it out.

Oh, and the strawberries that I think I mentioned in another thread have finished flowering and now have small fruit on.

You ready for this?...3 streets away,in a large front garden there's a mature Magnolia Liliiflora.....in flower?

I can go one better on the vegetable side, I have PSB heading up. Which is a bit of a pain as I rely on PSB to provide veg in March/April.
On the flower side I have daffodil shoots about an inch above the ground, and you can just see the petal colour on the big fat camellia buds.
So yeah, a bit odd indeed.

... and I had to mow the lawns yet again yesterday. I counted a dozen butterflies while I was at it.

just been out and harvested some new lovage shoots for my leek and potato soup. I have psb, but it is the one that comes in December, so a bit early, I don't think my early and late psb are flowering yet

I'm still picking caterpillars off my sprouts and my strawberries are still flowering. James Wong posted a photo on facebook of the snowdrops coming out in Hyde Park. It's bonkers! If it doesn't snow this winter my 6 year old daughter will be furious.

The Met Office seems to thing that November and December will go on being mild and wet. Charming - there was me relying on them to give us a good cold winter to clear out the slugs and snails for the start of next year.

Both slugs and snails still very active here.

Keep finding them in the house, too...
