I saved a couple of pairs of nice antiquey looking garden shears from the skip, but the handles are full of woodworm

I can't seem to find a supplier for replacements on the webz

Any suggestions?

How daft is that. You can get replacement handles for all sorts of garden equipment but not garden shears. I did find this, I don't know whether it would be any use - they do different sizes.

Sounds to me like a business opportunity.
Buy a lathe, cut down some of your trees and go into production

I was thinking of asking about for a wood turner, or see what they have at the Creamery

The short-handled ones look salvageable with a little tlc and my Dad's old standby - electrical tape.

Ah, I couldn't see worm holes. Looks like you've got a full job on your hands then. Tony's suggestion of a lathe seems appropriate then. Could make a fortune, no one else seems to make them.

In retrospect, I might treat the timber to kill the worm/fungus, and tape the handles to stop getting the protim om my hands, it would save a lot of work

In my experience, with the cost of the handle, and the cost of the labour involved it is seldom much cheaper putting new handles on old tools for pay, most people just buy a new tool

I enjoy putting handles on old tools as a hobby though

Shouldn't be a problem with a lathe, Doofa, just get a long series flat wood bit.
I used to have several sizes for drilling holes in window frames and walls in wood framed buildings when I briefly worked as an aerial rigger.
Can't remember precisely, but they were at least a foot long.

They have had wood lathes in Lidaldi from time to time

never got one though
