This year marks the eighth Shell Eco Marathon to be staged at Grampian Transport Museum. This is the Scottish national event in the international series.

Eco Marathons, formerly called Mileage Marathons, have been staged annually for the last twenty-eight years in the UK and elsewhere. In that time the results have improved from a few hundred miles per gallon to the 2001 World Record set here at the Scottish Event of 10240mpg by team Fancy Carol NOK of Japan.

The Grampian Transport Museum is delighted to host the Scottish event again this year. The appeal of the Eco Marathon is very broad. At one level it is an opportunity to study the natural ingenuity of designers and constructors. Many of the ideas featured in the Eco Cars are highly innovative and find their way into more serious commercial applications. The event has great educational benefits for the many young participants from schools and universities. An understanding of materials technology, use of tools, the importance of precision engineering and problem solving are all important skills for those taking part.

If you are interested in entering the Shell Eco Marathon Scotland please contact the museum (contact details are on the GTM Home Page)or download the Regulations.
