Hi guys,

Do you think it's too late to get and fatten a turkey for a christmas ?

I don't need it to be 10kg ... and it will be free range of course ..

any ideas if that's manageable ?

Thanks,
Camile

Hi everyone,

I found some "started" turkeys .. so will defenetly give it a go ..

But does anyone has an idea of where should to house them ? would it be better with the geese or with the chickens?

I have a pen for the chickens that I could use temporarly untill the turkey settles down and then let him free range with them ... but I'm not sure if I should because of the chicken disease (they are fine, it's just a thought) and I thought that turkeys were quite sensitive about it ..

the geese are sleeping in the shed .. so I believe there is enough room ...

or should I simply make a new house for the turkey ..

the best for me would be to have him/her with the geese ...

Tell me ..

I'd make a new house for the turkey.

I've read that you shouldn't keep turkeys and chickens together because of the risk of blackhead. Blackhead doesn't bother the chooks but can kill a turkey.

If I were to put a turkey in with our geese I think they would eat it LOL

Hi Shirlz,

That's what I read too .. but I've heard that it's when they are concentrated (ie penned) .. but mine will be free range ...

I think I'll try to sort out something in the shed for them ..
