clearing land

I am busy clearing trees on my property. I need to make some area for my garden. I want to have 1 acre ready for the spring, so I can pull the stumps out and start ploughing it in. I live on a 100 acre woodlot.

Wow! I need to clear some trees too as my teeny bit of woodland is overcrowded but we have to do it all by hand. What machinery do you use for this, especially for getting the stumps and roots out?

Well it depends.. If its small enough I use my chainsaw to cut around the roots and then just pull it out.. But I also have an old 25 ton excavator that will pull out anything at all.
