1. Visit your local farmers market whenever you can.
2. Grow as much as you can

3. Join a local food co-operative (but not at the expense of your local shops)

4. buy in bulk direct fromthe supplier if possible (i did this recently with hair dye)
5. buy online
6. join a veg box scheme and have them delivered
7. Have a friend who goes to markets (bit easier for those who live near london/ports) and have them pick up stuff for you - we do this with meat and cheese.

8. Make time to go to different shops, couple it with a bike ride to another area of town.

10. swap/barter goods (ie. fruit, veg, jam, booze, etc) with neighbours

Find local suppliers. I've got a local veggie stand and hardware store. Am getting off the mega-stores more and more.
