I've been reading Re Uses by Carolyn Jabs, it gives 2133 methods of turning everyday stuff (even stuff us minimal consumers won't ever buy)
into useful items, its a good read and is available on abebooks.com

Couldn't help myself - I've just signed up to Amazon especially to buy a copy - for the grand price of 1pence!! The trouble is its opened the door to me buying yet more books, which means that I'll have to have more book cases, which takes up more space, which means that eventually I'll have to build the extension - and so it goes on!!! Do you think think that I could freecycle the kids and use their bedrooms as a library??? Hmmmm maybe I just need a few lessons in self discipline.

That does sound like a good book - I'll keep an eye open for it in our library.

Books are very very naughty things - the multiply when you aren't looking!!
We have a really big problem here - we live between two branches of the countrys largest second hand book shop - that allows you to barter - so you can take various forms of media in - barter and come out with more various forms of media - dangerous stuff!!

I used to live just down the road from Hay on Wye where a large percentage of the shops are bookshops - FANTASTIC place.... but we had to move away. I would go out for milk and come back with a bag full of books
