These were taken a few weeks ago. Most of the weeds have gone.

Image
Stream boundary. That large plant is gunnara.

Image
Front of house. I put the verandah on about three years ago. The brick path can be seen from Google Earth.

Image
Seat. I like to sit here in the shade in the hot summer. Out of an old bus. Water butt on left. The shed behind is my workshop.

Image
Fruit orchard. Three trees have been removed because of a fungal desease.

Image
My comprey patch.

Image
The chook run. Henry is in middle. It has since been cleaned up. The brown aluminium window on the right was recycled from the house.

Image
Chook house. The rest of it is storage and garden shed. The small run on the left is access from house to chook run.

Image
Berries. Strawberries on right. Gooseberries in small garden. Blackcurrants and raspberries in back ground.

Image
My leeks.

Image
Broad beans. Weeds have gone.

Image
Glass house. Unheated.

Image
Compost area. The large heap on right will stay there for a year.

Image
View of vege garden taken from garden shed roof. I now have netting over the top.

Wow! Looks like a great piece of property, and you've done so much with it. I sigh with jealousy and longing....

Looks fantastic! I love the posh fruit cages. I'd love something like that over my strawberries.

Is timber cheap where you are?

Hi 3M. Most timber for general building is Pinus Radiata. It is native to America. It was first planted here in NZ at the start of the last century. We have vast forests of it plus other timbers. I would not say it was cheap, but it is affordable.

That looks very impressive indeed! I can just imagine sitting on the verandah with a glass of wine, admiring the beautiful view.

What a great set-up!

What are you keeping out of the vege garden, with all that netting?

So...

...when can I move in?

Hi Magpie. The biggest problem is blackbirds. There is also pukeko. (A type of swamp hen. NZ native. They can grow up to 40cm high). And there is the odd rabbit and hare. I almost forgot. We have magpies here too.

A bit greener than our place, but next year it should be different. I need to fence in my veggie patch as well as the chooks have decided they really like it - which is great at the moment as they are digging out the weeds for me, but I won't be too pleased if they go for the seedlings in the spring.
I also have to get a mesh gate or something for the backdoor as one hen fancies herself as an indoor hen - and also feeds her addition to cat food.

OH my, that is so organised! So when you've got a spare minute I'll be expecting you to come to my place to transform it

Well Done Robin,

I won't be at that stage for a few years yet. How long did it take you to get it all done?
