Eleven from 11. (That's pig keeper speak for 11 live births.) Delilah and piglets all doing well, but I'm knackered! Up until 1am and then back up at 5am. Now having a cuppa at 7am before going on with the chores, breakfasts, school run etc etc. Hmm, pigs may just be smarter than us!

Oh Stoney congratulations.

I've no idea about these things. Is that a large litter for a pig? They look so healthy and well. I hope they all do well.

Average litter size in the UK is 11.9 piglets, of which 9.8 are reared. The losses are due to stillbirths and piglet mortality.

We're averaging 11.6 piglets per litter, of which 11 are reared. So we're doing well at the moment.

I think the females at work here squealed as much as the piglets do!

They are the cutest thing i've seen for a long time!

Photos of piglets always send the page views for my blog through the roof for days. Chicks, on the other hand, are largely overlooked, except by children.

I'll take a few more photos later today when I'm sexing and registering them in my herdbook so I should get a couple of good close-up photos.

I was asked if I could shoot video of the whole farrowing process, but I really need a second pair of hands for that and it might put some people off their breakfast - especially if they see me giving mouth-to-mouth to a piglet!! That could really start some rumours about the strange predilections of crofters...

I've just put on a clean boiler suit AND trimmed the beard. The pigs seem to appreciate the effort...

you never do that when I visit!

But you're not a pig...

That's an excellent record. I guess that's testiment to the way you look after your animals and that they are treated so well.

Congratulations

Zoe
