I have bought a cross cut shredder and now I am wonderig what to do with all the resulting shredded paper. I know it can be used for small animal bedding but I don't have any animals, the only people I khow with pets have cats and dogs!
Any ideas?

Hi
Try offering it on Freecycle as small animal bedding.

Soak it and make it into recycled paper. Then sell it on ebay.

I compost mine.
I wondered what the narrow strips of plastic were in my compost and realised they were the remains of window envelopes

I am always desperate for shredded paper. I asked on freecycle and a lady comes and brings me some regularly and I give her eggs and marmalade in return. I use it in the dog kennels the cat kennel/shelters, the chicken houses and the ferret courts. When it is dirty, I compost it.

i have a few bags of it and i am going to be putting it as a base layer onto the new raised border that i am building, in the hope it will aid moisture rentention ( and eventually just be compost)

I put all my shredded paper into a bowl of hot water, add a squirt of washing up liquid which binds the paper together, and make balls off paper squeezed tightly and left to dry....
Throw them on the fire at Xmas time...extra coal for the fire and free too

I don't need a shredder - the cats are doing it for me! After using their tray, they are so intent on scratching that the entire thick wad of newspaper that I have under the tray gets shredded to bits... Sometimes they even shred the spare loo rolls.

So if anybody has anything to shred, just send it along!

Yes, agree, great for the compost heap, especially when mixed with grass cuttings. We also make logs and line the bottom of the runner bean trench to help retain moisture.
