Chooks and Fruit Bushes

Hi,
Just a quickie, I am running out of space in my garden and need to plant my blackcurrent bushes out somewhere, only place left is in the cook coop. I want to plant something there anyway so that they have some shade and shelter.
Do chickens eat berries from bushes? They don't seem to be too interested in raisins in their food.
Thanks!

They sure will! Mine eat all berried fruit. They especially love blackberries and pull them off the bushes.

They'll strip them in no time. We have to work hard to keep the chickens out of the front garden as it's where we've planted much of our soft fruit. The chooks know the goodies are there and try to get over a six-foot stone wall to get to them...

Not only will they eat the berries/fruit from the plants, but we also found out earlier this summer that ducks will eat the blossoms off the plants, so this year, we got nary a berry.

No more ducks in the vege patch at black currant flowering time!

My dog (bearded collie) eats the raspberries. She also likes tangerines but I don't grow those.

Oh well, there goes that idea then! Thanks for all of the advice, I have decided instead to shift the compost bins...not sure where to yet.....somwhere without any dogs either....!
