... Other than the ground. My only free soil is earmarked for peas and beans. And I'm tempted by a free kilo of seed potatoes offer....

I bought some of these (they come in sets of 3) and my maris pipers are absolutely thriving, growing almost faster than I can keep the compost topped up.
