Watch those young foxes .....

It will be coming to the time for young foxes to be hunting for themselves, and from experience I know what lengths they will go to, to get at hens!!
In the past we have had them come in the daylight and pick up a hen and carry it off. A hen with its feathers still on, is pretty heavy, and the first time it was followed, and after a lot of yelling and shouting - the fox decided the hen was to heavy and we were not going to give up the chase, and dropped the hen. Hen was shocked but survived. The second time, a young fox carried the hen off and would not stop.
I have already seen one hanging around behind our field wall during the morning. I was only alerted because the farm cats got on the hen shed roof, and the horses were looking over the wall at something .....it was a cheeky young fox. And the worst of it is, they do not seem to have the slightest fear of humans.
So be extra vigilant - they do not kill one, they will kill the lot for the fun of it.
