Well, to be fair, the article does say they make good pets! Certainly not enough of them to make meat but they're far to pretty to eat anyway ahhh!

If you've spent any time with pigs, you'll know how intelligent they are. they are very sociable and do make wonderful pets (our breeding pair of Kunekune pigs, from which these mini pigs have been bred down in size) are pets, really, but from their litters we eat the ones that don't measure up to the breed standard.

If they are like the kunekune in that they do very well on simply grazing pasture (with a little more nourishing tucker in the wintertime if you're in a cold climate), for someone on a smallholding, they could well be a good producer of meat as well as being a pet.

We decided on kunekunes for out meat pigs, as they don't dig up pasture (unless confined) and they are less than half the size of the commercial type meat pigs, and have such mellow temperaments that they are very easy to manage.

Cheers

They are so sweet!

I really loved pigs when I was a kid, so if I ever settle down to raise a family, it would be lovely to have a "mini-pig" around the house for kids to learn about.

When we were living with my in-laws in the Philippines,my wife brought a small pig to fatten up.She kept it in the shower room, tied to the shower. because if it was kept outside it might get stolen.Very clean animals actually, reminded me of a dog,she used to bath it everyday, but it used to get in the way when I took a shower.
They would also keep chickens in the house attached with string to the chickens leg.
