About the course leaders

Andy and Dave have both been foragers since childhood. They have built on the their knowledge over the years Dave taking the direction of science and horticulture and Andy booze, wild food recipes and survialism. Andy Hamilton is the author of the best selling Booze for Free and The BBC Autumnwatch forager, he has also written a survial column for Wired and being a survival consultant for TV company. Dave teaches horticulture at the world famous Schumacher College  and writes for various Gardening magazines including BBC Gardeners world.

They have both worked as wild food experts at the Eden project and for National Geographic wild.  If you think you have seen them on TV in other country’s too then you’d be right as they both pop up in the oddest of places to share their passion of wild food.

Their style is laid back and the courses are run so that every drop of knowledge is delivered in a light hearted way, but don’t just take our word for it. See for yourself with the clip below.

Wild Brewing Workshop

Date: Saturday 21 April Time: 10am – 3pm Cost: £35 Tutor: Andy Hamilton

The course is aimed at novices or beginners. From liquors to beer to wines Andy will take you through them all in a good-humoured manner, answering questions as he goes along. If the weather permits there will also be an opportunity to nip out and pick some herbs to make traditional ales. To book visit the Windmill hill City farm website.

Residential Courses

During the Autumn we are looking into running residential courses in the Devon (South Hams) area. This will include either a weekend or a weeks accommodation in a holiday cottage  in a rural location.  We will lead forages and cooking demos for one or two of the days leaving you free to enjoy your holiday in peace building on what you have learnt. We can only run these if the interest as the accommodation needs to be booked well in advance. If you are interested then drop Dave Hamilton a line with the dates you would like to attend and we’ll see if we can accommodate you.

Booking Conditions

We tried to be as relaxed as possible about bookings but unfortunately this didn’t really work. We found ourselves unsure who was going to turn up and we never knew if anyone had paid or not! We lost money, over booked courses and went a little prematurely grey . So, we’re afraid, we have to have a few booking conditions. That way everyone is happy and you can just turn up and enjoy yourselves!

Securing a place – Your place or places on a course will be secured only upon advanced payment of the full cost. Payment is by cheque or by us pay pal using the drop down menu
