Re: BBC iPlayer: Bees, Butterflies and Blooms
Just watched the second programme and thought it a bit odd that while we are trying to save bees, hoverflies etc, they all seem keen to put out bowls of water to catch them and drown them! And, was it really that difficult to come up with putting a bee picture on plants for people to recog...

Re: Asparagus for beginners?
Ive planted about 30 crowns now over a 3 year period and the results so far are still pathetic. I have found some of the roots have gone rotten underground tho and someone has mentioned on here about shrews, which we have millions of!, so perhaps I should check if theyre still there and in tact. See...

Re: growing ginger
I grew it from supermarket bought ginger. Just took off a couple of the small nodule bits and stuck in a pot of probably cheap compost and placed on the windowsill. It grew really easily and continued to do so, growing very tall. It was only when I dug around to see how much gnger had grown that I k...

Re: vodka and Werthers
I love this recipe and made lots for my party. I put it in the freezer for too long tho and it all curdled so beware!
Vodka works with any boiled sweets just as well. Apparently skittles are amazing! Aniseed balls are great - if u like aniseed

Buying seeds
Can I recommend a supplier of seeds on here? I have used Premier_Seeds_Direct via Ebay for the past 6 years and the seeds have always been fantastic and worked! They charge a flat rate for postage regardless of how many packs of seeds you buy - 75p for UK. They also post worldwide which has been han...

Re: Wine from home grown grapes - help!
Am trying this myself today So, best to take the juice and put straight into demijohn rather than sit on the pulp? Would you then add the yeast in the demijohn or still start it off in primary/bucket? Havent got proper yeast so will bread yeast do?

Re: Sweetcorn - waste of space!
Theyre real problems unfortunately M3 and you should get rid of them. They will undermine your pond and make the banks collapse. Your local Marie would send someone out with traps, sad but necessary Im afraid

Re: Sweetcorn - waste of space!

Took sompe visitors round the garden, stopped where my wonderfully growing sweetcorn were and..............they'd gone! :do...
