Re: How Selfsufficientish were you in 2014
I can eat about 8 mixed in with other fruit, but keep forgetting about them to be honest, even though they are all over the table and the windowsill! They are not my favourite fruit but they last well and don't need a lot of looking after. However they self seed everywhere which is a nuisance! :flow...

Re: How Selfsufficientish were you in 2014
Quite well even though I thought I had/intended to cut back, cos after 10 years it starts to get a bit too much, and I have other interests now. Still have loads of fruit in the freezer but life gets in the way sometimes as others have said, and as I have tons of jam uneaten there's not much point m...

Re: SITE UPGRADE
Cool! It's easy when you know how, but I never figured out how to do that sort of thing with the newer version of the forum when I was a mod and didn't dare touch anything like that anyway. The really ancient version was easy in comparison!

Re: SITE UPGRADE
The section 'Wild Foods and Foraging' has never shown up in View Active Topics, only View New Posts. This is an old problem and one that has been discussed and brought to other mods' attention many times back when I was a mod!

Re: Any Ishy Bloggers out there?
I used to follow WP blogs that way but then Google/Blogger did away with Google Reader, so I went with Feedly which is better anyway.

Re: Bloody dock...
And just to be serious for a moment, I could not find flaked tapioca in the UK, only flaked rice (pudding rice) which I didn't care for much - prefer regular pudding rice. But I have memories of flaked tapioca from childhood. There seemed to be a distinct lack of choice in the rice, tapioca, semolin...

I didn't get where I am today without eating Blancmange, and I'd fight anyone for the skin.....but who the hell eats tapioca (aka frogspawn)?? MEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!! I love it and is brilliant with bramble jelly mixed in! But strangely, in France, frogspawn tapioca is sold as a soup thickener. :dontknow...

The Dock Bug http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coreus_marginatus might disagree with the original post. Although I've never seen one on dock, only on my blackberries and raspberries. And Ragwort is a very important plant which hosts many species of insect, notably the Cinnabar Moth, whose larvae help to ...

Re: Seasonal food
I buy lettuce, tomatoes and cucumbers out of season but would never dream of buying certain veg and fruit which I grow and look forward to eating and enjoying just during the season, like strawbs and rasps and French beans. A bit silly maybe but some years I might only have cucs for 6 weeks of the y...
