Re: What music are you people into?

Hey, I wanna hang out at Hedgewitch's - good music  If I come to yours and lounge around all day listening to music, will you bring me biscuits and wine regularly? I'll bring some Paul Weller, Amy Winehouse, Nick Cave, Richard Hawley, Robert Wyatt, Led Zep, The Killers, Kings of Leon, Kazab...

Re: Free range in France?

We normally eat exclusively vegetarian although OH will sometimes eat rabbit etc. and we both sometimes eat oily fish. Neither rabbits nor fish are vegetables. Therefore you don't "normally eat exclusively vegetarian". If you say you do to other meat-eaters it's very confusing for them wh...

Isn't she absolutely gorgeous!! Truly natural beauty. I've seen her a few times on tv over the last few days ... a terrific face to front thrift and care of our environment. More power to her

Re: tomatoes and blight prevention ...

I am using Bordelais mix already. Having had to take up over 30 tomato plants last year I don't want a repeat performance. Tomatoes that are well spaced and have very good air circulation around them are less likely to be effected, so never cram your tomatoes together. I ate my first red tomato yest...

Best pizza I've ever made!

Pizza doesn't have to be loaded with cheese to be scrummy. Had this for my dinner last night ....... crispy thin crust base with polena for extra crunch and linseeds and garlic ..... topped with garlic-herb aioli, mushrooms and caremalised onion and garlic. http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/ii254/V...

... Le Tour de France that is. Anybody else going to be watching it? We'll be glued to the evening catchup of the days events and will go and see the time trials at least. I really how drugs don't put a cloud over proceedings like last year. I think this could be Cadel Evans' year. The mans got thig...

Re: 10 things I've done that you probably haven't

10. Got so drunk at the town fete last year that I don't remember much beyond the first couple of hours (apparently there was singing and can can-ing on tables), so much so, that my mum is flying out this year for the fete so that she can keep an eye on me! :? Are you open to bribes/begging for an ...

Re: garlic

It depends on soil type and how much rain you get as to how long you can safely leave them in the ground. Some of mine are already starting to rot, so I'm taking the lot up tomorrow (and there are a LOT!)

Re: Freezing - to blanch or not to blanch

Blanching inactivates enzymes which should help with texture and flavour of foods that are being frozen.

If memory serves, some enzymes can be quite harmful when you later eat the food.

I might give salting a go this year, though I'm probably not organised enough to sort some jars out!
