Re: tell me about broad beans
I would go with autumn planting...that way the plants are already established in the spring and hav'nt got too far to grow until harvest. Don't forget to take the tips out....probably between 4-6 weeks before harvest. This does help deter blackfly and they taste absolutely yummy steamed and a bit of...

I realise it's 'supposedly' christ's birthday....and in pagan times a celebration of harvest.....but why do 'we' still set so much...

Just bought Roger Phillips book.....Mushrooms. It's fantastic!!! Has over 1,250 detailed photographs. Also have a few others but these have drawings rather than photos. Definitely think you stand a better chance of identifying them with photos rather than drawings.

You might risk bringing in disease if using garlic from the supermarkets....an also get very small cloves. Th ones sold by the seed merchants are varieties chosen to grow in our climate and have gone through quite a process to make sure there are no diseases spread.

Re: winter egg laying
Hi My ex-bats slowed down a bit but didn't stop laying in winter last year. As Clara says, it depends on the breed. Egg laying is influenced by the amount of daylight and you can "con" chickens into laying more in winter by giving them a couple of hours of extra light with a bulb in the h...

Will be planting mine in the greenhouse soil this week. Have never done it before but am gonna give it a go! :flower: I would STRONGLY advise you to rethink this Aggy, unless you can keep the interior of your greenhouse dry (no condensation or drips) you will get blight, which will transfer to the ...

It can be bought at most country stores...especially ones that deal with horses. It's gentian violet....stuff that was used years ago on kids with impetigo and similar problems. :)

Re: Aloes again
I don't want any aloes... I've got some already but I just wanted to say that they are brilliant. I've been suffering with dry and itchy skin on the front of my shin for about 6 weeks now... it kept flaring up. Yesterday it reached a new high in terms on itchiness and I remembered my aloe plant... ...

I'm going to try this... I might be some time, it often takes be around 1...
