Re: how much solar for an all-electric home?

For future readers.

A simple set up with solar PV 4 kw grid connected, a ground source heat pump or air source heat pump and solar thermal (hot water) would be suffieient for this project.

Re: Solar heating cylinder

You can retrofit your current tank if you don't use your immersion.

Re: Hugh Fearlessly and good energy

You like the idea of paying more than you need to for your gas so that other people can pay less for their solar hot water? a trivial exercise in the grand scheme of things, and effectively a voluntary conscience tax... with no proof of effectiveness Yeah, I do. Have been on the dog to them today a...

I quite like the idea of this >> http://www.goodenergy.co.uk/?page_id=3075

This is also interesting >>http://www.goodenergy.co.uk/?page_id=46 In particular the part about you "not" needing a export meter!

Re: Wind Power, what? why?

And also has anyone in France information about a BuyBack scheme? because a 6KW turbine would generate 6000->12000 KWH per year, and we don't use that much, a budget of 16000 euros would be feasible, if we could get it back through a scheme. Thanks all! Shame you don't live here in the UK. Next yea...

Re: photovoltaic panels. How to choose

>Solar PV is increasing efficiency every year so, like computers emmm - not sure this is true. . I know they aren't on par, it was to give a sense of an idea. Every year or so the technology gets better, as I'm sure you're aware there are a lot of companies producing solar PV and as with everything...

Re: photovoltaic panels. How to choose

What I want to know is how to choose the best/most economic. The best is dertimined by the latest product on the market but this is then restricted by cost as it'll be the most expensive. Solar PV is increasing efficiency every year so, like computers, your system will soon be over taken by a bette...

Re: photovoltaic panels. How to choose

Of course I'm happy to help. 4 kw is quite a substantial system, have you got suffiecent roof space? you're going to need about 37 panels and thats assuming you want it on the roof? Do you want a grid tied system of have it off grid? Are you sure you need a whole 4 kw? This isn't a problem really be...

Re: Wind Energy

Hi, if it's wind energy you want to harness you could get a simple caravan turbine and hook that up to an inverter. I don't know much about small caravan turbines. Failing that you could get a 200 watt or more turbine attached to many deep cycle batteries which in turn is hooked up to an inverter. T...

I'm still trying to work out how we can get wind power installed here, without falling foul of all the planning permission and such rubbish  Install first, let people/planners ask questions later. You can always apply for retrospective planning afterwards if someone ...

what are we judge and jury and executioner all rolled into one, : We should be, after all, we did vote for them to represent us. Lets bear in mind that also the attitude of siting back and doing nothing lets people like the mp's get away with it, after all, because they can, they do! We, as a natio...

Re: MP's Expenses

Not a very wise thing to say to a member of parliament especially if he is a lawyer and with witnesses abound, your £ 1.60 tipr could have been turned into a £ 160.00 fine for threatening behavior, and divulging the area where himself and his friends were being taken too on a public forum is also v...
