Re: Forest gardens
I think Hazel would be a perfect tree for a food forest. They are a good food crop plus if coppiced properly can provide building materials, poles for use in the garden and fuel.

Re: List of perennial vegetables and other food plants
I have just started growing cut and come again Cauliflower which is a perennial and produces 10 or more small heads a year plus sprouting heads and the leaves are edible.
I have read mixed reviews so it is a bit of an experiment

Re: Aquaponics?
After being let down by a completely greedy git on Gumtree I have decided to not use IBCs at all and custom build my sump tank, fish tank and grow beds. I was going to completely bury the sump tank and I thought what is the point of digging a big hole and then putting an IBC in it when I could just ...

Re: Onions - why?
I tried seeds last year for the first time and now we have more onions than we know what to do with.
I got my seeds from the real seed company. I sowed paris early and sturon on the 25th of august and overwintered them in the poly tunnel and then planted them out in the spring.

Re: Slow Geodesic Dome build
They are the best structure for standing up to strong winds. paul That's precisely why we decided to build one. I am surprised at just how stiff the whole structure actually is. You could easily walk on it. I was leaning a ladder against it yesterday to tape up all the seams to make it water tight ...

Re: Aquaponics?
I have bought a couple of IBCs from Gumtree and I may have a chance of another one or two as well. The plan is to build a simple solar powered single IBC aquaponics system this year as a learning aid to building a bigger system in the future. I can use the other IBCs for temperature regulation. http...
