Malt Extract - part 2!

What are the differences - in terms of both final product and actual practice of using - between cans of malt extract and dried malt extract. I've never used dried before. Worth trying?

Malt Extract

Hello all - where do you most regularly purchase your malt extract from? I've purchased primarily from a shop I found online, but I'm wondering if others shop elsewhere. Where's good and cheap? :D

Re: Leftover Chicken Recipes

Something like a chicken laksa might be the ticket, although it's not really one for the slow cooker. Quick and easy though.

Re: Alcoholic Ginger Beer (or wine) recipe using root ginger?

I do :) I quite often use EZ Caps to make small batches of turbo cider / ginger beer and other goodies. www.e-z-caps.com Anyway, with these I make a 2 litre bottle of slightly alcoholic ginger beer. I'll double check the exact measurments, but it's basically a tablespoon or more of grated ginger, so...

Re: Marmelade time!

Our local fruit & veg shop helpfully put up a notice in the shop window letting us know that Seville oranges would be in stock at the start of January, and inside they made a display of them, with free 'how to make marmelade' recipe leaflets next to them. This was my first year of making marmela...

Re: woops its a bit fizzy

Same argument applies - release the locking lever a little and VERY slowly to allow any excess pressure to vent. I didn't realise you could get those without drinking an awful lot of Grolsch :? Mike They're not the cheapest of bottles to purchase new - but we were on holiday in Germany this year an...

Re: How do I...get hold of a baking stone?

In B&Q yesterday and found good sized sandstone slab reduced to £2. Works a treat! Flat breads done on it were really great. I used my rimless baking sheet as a peel, although I was more successful in using it to remove the breads from the oven than I was putting them in. Practice required I gue...

Re: Change from "How" to "Why Do I?" on breadmaking machines

I'd always assumed that powdered milk was recommended (rather than 'real' milk) because of a bread machine's timing function - so that, if you put the mix into the machine before going to bed at night in order to have a fresh baked loaf waiting in the morning, then you won't be leaving the milk out ...
