Re: Favourite board games.

Apples to Apples It is a word game with cards and sort of catagories, I play it with my teens and we always end up in hysterics, also had neighbours [age 6-60] round to play and they loved it. Would make a great party game too. Got it in USA but it is listed here and very well worth it. http://www.a...

Edamame Beans anyone ?

So they were talking about them on radio and it got me to thinking.

Anyone tried to grow them, esp in Northern UK [Lancashire] altho I do have a greenhouse and large sheltered porch if need to protect.

Do you start in tube/loo rolls like mange toute/peas ?

Any other factors ?

Thanks

Re: What are you experimenting with this year?

Starting to think about this year; more peas and broad beans, spread out mange tout [ok all sowings] Any recommendations for slug proof spuds ? lost half of mine last year. More onions and garlic, less tomatoes but looked after better ! More spinach and better timed salads. More chard too. Carrots. ...

Re: Can I buy a widget that will do this ?

I just run a cable with 'jacks' from lappy to surround sound system, it has a special thingy, same as what you plug earphones into. Easy peasy, got it from a big box electronics store, couldnt tell you which one tho.

Re: Bulk food suppliers?

Suma are brilliant, they deliver to your house if order is big enough, over £250 I think, which between 2-3 people isnt that difficult.

Garlic bulbs- buying ?

I am considering buying some garlic bulbs to plant. I know I can just save and replant the biggest cloves, I did this last year and am still eating them. Will probably re-plant some too as I am saving the biggest bulbs. Guess this time of year we are all thinking about what to do differently, and I ...

Re: cheap and non comercial x/mas article

I have just started off some of my now rather renown homemade lemonade hooch, ready for Christmas presents for friends and colleagues... planning on making pj's for multitude of nieces out of left over fleece, just need ideas for my own teens.

What to do with privet trimmings ?

Finally got the jungle that is my hedge hacked back to within an Inch of its life! Dull of good intentions to shred it all to use as mulch but soon got bored of unblocking shredder, so dumped some big armfuls under hedge as a lazy mulch. It will break down eventually ! But what do I do with the rest...

Re: Another freezer ?

Got a Beko coming on Thursday, cant wait.

I found them online for £145 from Te$co and A$da but got fed up almost instantly having to put up ALL my details to 'log in' to buy the thing ! So called local electrical store and they will deliver one for £155. Def worth the extra tenner.

Red spider mite in house ?

I suspect we may have got the chooks red spider mites into the house. Some really tiny little critters seem to pop up when ever I am on sofa with lappy. Had thought it might just be house spiders, but recall reading somewhere about getting them off chooks. Plan on having a good hoover up tmw [it was...

It doesnt usually have the same affect as the dreaded US poison ivy which melts your skin off, not sure about edible affects tho.

Re: Another freezer ?

I agree with you Graham, fresh food is so much nicer, but as a working single mum, it just isnt realistic. If the kids have activities after school I get something out in the morning that will be ready to heat and eat when we get home from school. On other days I will batch cook; soup, lasagna, past...
