I keep saying to Mum she should dig up the rest of the lawn but I think there will be veg plot creep rather then removing the lawn in one fell swoop.

It does make me wonder, how many other newbies are out there, is this a growing trend?

I've been poorly lately and it's highlighted how wonderful it is to have a tractor/wagon/crane to hand. He's just settled down and done all the heavy and hard work letting me confine myself to dibbing, harvesting and other such gentle tasks.

I'd plum for the not enough salt option, especially if things got watery. The beans often shrink so I find I always need to top up with more salt the next morning. Sometimes the shrinkage is so great I can top up the salt layer, add another layer of beans and then a final salt layer.

There are specific types of worms that are good. You want the ones which when you gently stretch them out are stripey. I think they're called tiger worms or something like that. Really red worms like you get in well rotted manure are also good.
