Urban foraging,
We have aquired half of our log/ wood supply for end of/next year from skips and other peoples throw aways in a town. This includes about half a ton of hardwood. Have saved £1000 on gas since last september.

Mine sweeping 6 bottles of larger from the bar of one of the roughest clubs in Glasgow.

Dont think their is much of a solution to be honest. We bought one of the 'sonic' machines for our small front lawn. OH found cat sitting looking at it!! Have tried chilli powder works a bit, have to keep it up but rain is a problem. Parents had best method, Airedale....cat fits in mouth quite nicel...

Have you looked at your local council's website, maybe they do compost give aways....
or freecycle, could ask for wood?

Chicken madras, with added home grown green beans, pepper, chilli and cauli from the freezer to make the meat go further.

letting nature run it's way. we all need a bit of food to keep us warm for the winter.
I look at it this way, a little good will for 'mother nature' always gets re-paid.

Things i've tried, rocket, diffrent lettuce such as red little gem, pickling onions, radish - grow on for the pods, mint and peas. Also not veg but, mellon....cantaloupe type, 12" pot and i usually get a good 4/5 grapefruit size fruits and cape gooseberry (12" pot again). but what ever you...

Compost - look at your local council website, some do 'free' give aways during the year... mine does about 6 per year. Also do any of your neighbours have chickens...? As for the cider, yes i do... but more wine . Have a look at the home brew section here, everyone gives great advice. Dont pay a lot...

Sweet williams, seeds are cheep and they last very well.
