Re: Leaf mould

I had mine in black bags for 2 years and they didn't decompose, but the pile by the fence that's been open to the elements since last autumn has started rotting down well, so I added the 2 yo contents of the black bags to that, i'm not convinced plastic bags are required at all...

Mushroom propagation

Hello all, I have a tree root in my garden which each year grows large white mushrooms. I'm not sure what they are and I just let them do their own thing. but it got me thinking, would it be possible to intentionally "sow" other desirable and edible mushrooms in the same location? eg chanterelles wh...

Re: This self sufficient thing?

I'm not sure if it's precisely harking back, as hearkening for contact and context in a world that's pushing us further and further away from real contact with real things. There's a pleasure and satisfaction from creating or doing for yourself that can't be found in popping to the supermarket or bu...

Re: What Is For Tea?

I don't think so there' new, less tight restrictions on keepign their food and water covered. Re: Hotbed Propagator

So is this a special hot bed or is it your 'normal' compost bin that you're adapting to function as a hotbed whilst it's working away?
