Just put newspaper on the lawn, dirt, sand, concrete or whatever and build some layers of straw/ compost. Try to get hold of a booklet by Ester Dean. She describes methods suitable for people with all...

However anywhere they can the buggers will crawl under the fences and I have to tie the bottom wire to a log etc. I am impressed with the gates and fences...

Hello Mrs D. Congrats on the new place. It should not really be such a daunting task to get it sorted. Here in the big sunburnt country 3/4 of an acre is about the size of a budgie cage! One of the best investments I ever made (and I've made some bad ones) was for six panels of swimming pool fence. ...

You can blanch celery with soil, wrap with newspaper or slip a short length of clay pipe over the plant. All you are doing is excluding light from the stems so they have to grow larger and upward to get to the sunlight. Personaly I prefer my celery green and small. It tastes so much better than the ...

I grow my potatoes on top of the soil. Slash the grass first. Put down a layer of cardboard. Place the potatoes on top and cover with the slashed grass. Add more mulch if needed and sprinkle some manure on top. As the plants grow keep adding mulch until flowering is over and the tops die. There are ...

Wow! What a friendly place. Thank you for the welcome. Hamilton Island is a major tourist resort just off the Queensland coast. You can google it if you would like to have a look. I drive 3/4 hour to the Harbour then travel 1/2 an hour by fast catamaran to work and back each day. My wife and I both ...
