Re: I'm back again...toddler sleeping problem - any ideas?
Thank you all  well to update, things have gone downhill with his sleeping  we got to the point where he was not sleeping more than 3hrs a night and was hysterically screaming and shaking as soon as you mentioned "bed", "sleep", "night" or approached ...

Re: I'm back again...toddler sleeping problem - any ideas?
Thanks :) Thats kind of what I am thinking, it doesn't always work, but it does seem to give a quieter night and less stress than any of the other methods....last night we didn't put him into bed we left him up...but he got through 2 and a half 9oz bottles of milk (he gets very desperate for milk wh...

Re: I'm back again...toddler sleeping problem - any ideas?
I forgot to add that. He usually has about 20min during the day, if he has it before about 2pm then he will generally be sleepy by bedtime and will fall asleep on his bottle (generally rouse him a bit to put him to bed so he knows he is in bed if he wakes in the night). If he has it after 2pm he can...

I'm back again...toddler sleeping problem - any ideas?
Hello  its been quite a while since I last popped by, 3 kids under 6 are keeping me fairly busy! Just wondered if anyone had any ideas about James' sleeping...he is 13 months and we have always had a problem with him sleeping (co-slept quite a lot when he was younger, but he won't do that now....

Hello again - I'm back!
Just thought I would say  as I haven't been on in over a year what with small children etc... We still live in our little croft house on Shetland with 3 kids (Beth 5, Lucy almost 3 and the latest addition James 9 months) numerous chickens (we keep them for eggs and meat), 3 Shetland ponies and...

Anyone heard of a Hunter range cooker & converting from oil?
We are considering buying a range - it looks like a Rayburn but doesn't appear to actually be one. It says HUNTER on it? It has been converted from solid fuel to oil and we would like to convert it back, but not sure what it is and therefore whether we can get the parts? Any ideas? It appears to sti...

Nanny goat for sale (Shetland, can put on boat to Aberdeen)
Beauty is a very friendly black and white 3yr old nanny goat. She is an experienced milker and her 2008 kids can be seen (or photos of them unless you are up here). She is not milking or in kid at the moment but ready to go to a billy this summer. For sale to a good home only where there are already...

Re: Newborn - 15lb (or so) cloth nappies for sale
Clara - you are right, they are fantastic, I have some in the large size and they were great with Beth for overnight even as a toddler sleeping 14hrs they didn't leak and that was with a fleece wrap! I am on the look out for some more in the smaller sizes now. I am thinking of selling some totbots o...

Re: Can old hens feel the cold?
I didn't eat mine either, I must admit a lumpy old hen found stiff with rigor mortis on the goat shed floor who died of unknown causes did not really whet my appetite

Newborn - 15lb (or so) cloth nappies for sale SOLD
Little Lucy (3 months) has turned out to be a very heavy wetter and already sleeping through the night  but the combination is a bad one and she can make any nappy - disposable or cloth - leak badly overnight. So I have for sale a carrier bag full of unused - well one has been used a couple ...

Re: Can old hens feel the cold?
Sorry to hear that. I lost one last week, same way. She was only just over three but has always been a lumpy looking hen (it sounds awful but I can't think how better to describe it) so I never really expected her to make old age. She was a great character though :( Last fortnight or so of her life ...

Re: Late walking baby.....
I think it is 18 months before they start on the 'checkups'. Beth never walked independently until 16 months, she never crawled/bum shuffled at all, cruised round the furniture from a year old but took a few more months to walk on her own. tbh I wouldn't worry too much they all develop at different ...
