Re: Downshifting

When you talk about working part time/ half the year it just sounds perfect. I thought maybe I was unhappy about work because I didn't particularly enjoy my job, but I'm starting to think it's more like it just takes too much time away from me, no matter what job it is. Do you find that people think...

I've used Real Seeds too and I'd recommend them!

Re: Downshifting

Pull yourself together, woman! Why would you not be proud of your achievements just because they're outside the "normal" definition of work? Ask a few "workers" to dig a garden - see how far they get. What on earth is the point of continuing to work in an environment which is stressful to you? Net ...

Recycle gloves

I had to share this:

What a great idea to recycle gloves!

Downshifting

I'm considering downshifting. Just working part time in a less stressful job, rather than full time in a stressful job. My biggest fear is not money, just how I'll feel about myself (will I still be proud of my achievements?) and how other people will view me - you know, when you first meet people a...

Re: Breast feeding, socially unacceptable or not?

I am not suggesting women strip off entierly or go topless to feed their child in public, that would be rediculous. What I object to is the feeling of needing to cover with a towel or blanket or hiding behind a cushion. Women shouldnt have to do this. I see what you mean, and agree that women shoul...

Re: Rice weevils!

Apparently if you put the rice in the freezer for a few hours it kills them, but who wants to eat rice with dead weevils in it?? I don't think I'll be eating rice for a while now  and I'm not eating brambles either! :pukeright:

Re: Rice weevils!

On a thread that was started a while ago called Pests in my kitchen!! Please Hep!! , Milims said (and I quote), If you found them in the cupboard where you store your dried goods, such as flour etc, it's possible that they are psosids of book lice. They eat their way into your packets thru the glue...

Re: Rice weevils!

I got some rice from T***o which had huge weevils in it. I got some from Asda a couple of weeks later which also had weevils - but nowhere near the size of the T***o lot. Now I shop at Asda. It's the lesser of two weevils. (MKG was last seen heading out to sea on a boat packed with other people als...

Rice weevils!

I opened a pack of rice, only to find rice weevils in it - alive! I'd never known of such a thing before, but this has happened twice now from the same supermarket. I've completely gone off rice now that I've read up on them :( I wonder how they manage to survive, because the shelf life is s...

Re: Breast feeding, socially unacceptable or not?

Why purposely make other people feel uncomfortable just for the sake of making a point?! Beacuse if people are not forced to feel uncomfortable then they will never think to question why they feel uncomfortable, and that maybe their feeling uncomfortable at the sight of a woman feeling her child is...

Re: Breast feeding, socially unacceptable or not?

Thanks so much for your reply Spughy. This is how I feel exactly. It is no wonder there are so many women out there who give up breast feeding at the first hurdle. Women shouldn't have to cover up or hide and the more people saw women openly breastfeeding, nipples and all, the more socially accepta...
