I'd vote for CSA, may be a nightmare of paperwork and the like but at least there's a third party for him to 'blame' rather than you- he'd make the payments at source rather than at his convienence (if he's earning that is) if he's not earning so he doesn't have to support the girls well, words fail...

I gave up 8 years ago, It was hard and anyone who says its not is not telling the truth! I brushed my teeth every time I wanted a fag and kept my hands busy as that was the time I found the urge the strongest. Even to this day it feels odd having a drink without a fag but at least now the Pubs enfor...

I voted POL, no worrying about how long they've been laying or what to do with the cockerals if you get them in the day olds. I've gone for trad breeds- my favourite are Langshans and light sussex. Both are utility breeds (you can eat the surplus and have a reasonable number of eggs) and have been a...

That would be great- I'd volunteer to do one day aweek (for a generous staff discount!). I use Mole Valley farmers for a lot of my 'heavy duty' stuff and the feed prices are reasonable too (compared to some around here)

How about expressing a feed- the convienence of bottle feeding without losing the benefit of breast milk? If you express you can sweet talk your OH to do a feed/feeds during the night to let you catch up a bit. At 10 wks you've prob just gone through one of their nightmarish growth spurts so fingers...

I've used a 20w bulb as my heating element, no probs with the thermostat turning it on and off during incubation. Once they hatch I put them in a brooder with a hot lamp. If you use a bulb always have a spare sounds obvious but you never know. I had a good rate with hatches last year (around 80%) su...

what heating element are you using? is the size of the box too large? have you the right thermistor range? Questions, questions I know but if I can help you figure it out I will. I do have a spare higher end thermistor if thats what you require if you're using a home built thermostat. kind thoughts ...

The island does still appear to be for sale! Still would be on my list of things to buy if I came into that sort of cash, would that make me a Laird? is there a female version or a plural? It would be lovely wouldn't it........still not volunteering to go fishing! I have no idea about the water supp...

I filled in this questionaire through a link on BBKA, I think the best thing to design for hives would be an adjustable stand, so you can do all your lifing at a comfortable height, just an idea. I'd also use measurements from one of the more common hives (national/dadant whatever) so equipment can ...
