Parts of my lawn have been taken over by moss due to unusually wet weather, so bad that I've had to dig bits up to get it out. It's all level and ready to go with the grass seed, but does anyone have any tips re watering, fertilising etc that don't involve nasty chemicals? I'm also worried about it ...

I read a book recently that said not to use home-made compost as it's likely to be full of diseases and the wrong PH etc. After lovingly making my compost, I'm concerned, is there any way to test it or should I just ignore the book??

Does anyone use essential oil blends as fragrance for themselves rather than their home? If so, do you mix with a carrier oil or something? What's your favourite blend? I'd love to know more as I'm considering doing this!

I have spare pan lids (glass and metal) from broken pans, and lots of empty CD cases, is there anyway they can be recycled or is landfill the only option?

I recently read something that advised to just plant garlic all year round, which goes against what I thought. When would you say is the next time I can plant garlic? I'm just wondering as I've been given some good ones I'm itching to plant!

Quorn lets meat alternatives down. It's not tasty. However, RealEat chicken style pieces are so much like chicken it's weird. Redwood (various), Linda McCartney stuff, etc are all tasty. Just wish I could make them myself!
