I've had a busy day in the garden today picked pumpkins so they can ripen off in the lean too emptied the greenhouse of the tomatoes the sweet peppers are still ripening, and had a few courgettes for our tea :flower:

I'm quite fortunate in North Yorkshire we have loads of elderberry trees around, i usually pick 12lb of berries at a time i don't bother with using a fork to get the berries off i use a pair of scissors to harvest them then put them in a big bucket with 2lb of brambles i then pour 10lts of boiling w...

Elfcurry elderberry wine has always been my favorite, in John Seymours" Bible" as i call it, the wine making methods are very easy, just as well for me :icon_smile: i find the simpler the better if you don't have his book i can post the recipe i use i have had lovely results from very simp...

I have been making Elderberry and bramble wine for 40yrs or so now and have tried a few different recipes, but i seem to go back to John Seymours basic elderberry recipe for the best results, all i do is add 1lb of brambles to give it a slightly port type flavour. It does take a long time to mature ...

That's true Ina but i tend to make the spirit infusions around now for Christmas time as a treat and some prezzies for family, we make hampers for family made up from all home made products that we have done over the year. :flower:

I must admit i really enjoy my retirement, 45yrs in forestry was wonderful, hard work but i woud'nt change a thing :flower: :flower:

I started off in the kitchen but Jane did start to complain a little when she was unable to bake comfortably :mrgreen: :lol:

:flower: Sorry Ina that's my bad grammar, its really cheap spirits i can buy locally :flower:
mind you i would love to have a go if it was legal !!!! but you can make rice wine and grain fermented whisky, i don't know how good it is i might have a go :wink:
