Uses for Wormwood

Post: # 280657Post Brewtrog »

As mentioned in the homebrew section, I've recently got my hands on a wormwood plant. Besides from the planned brewing and possibly looking into homemade absinthe (at half the abv). Does anyone know any good uses for wormwood?

Quite a good insect repellant, I believe.

Take nobody's word for it, especially not mine! If I offer you an ID of something based on a photo, please treat it as a guess, and a starting point for further investigations.

Ah - I've learned something ...

Vermouth is a French mangling of the German word Vermut, which means wormwood. So apart from your wormwood ale, you can steep wormwood in a nice neutralish white wine, add some sugar and get something like a Cinzano Bianco.

Oh, I don't know ... a Cinzano and lemonade on a hot day, sitting out on the lawn with the sound of wasps buzzing ...

Yeah - you're right.
